On February 15 at a regular Bandera City Council meeting, Water Treatment Plant Operator John Hegemier was awarded a token of appreciation in recognition of five years of dedicated service to the City of Bandera by Mayor Suzanne Schauman.

Hegemier, who has served the community as Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and Public Works Foreman, is currently the groundwater/wastewater operator at the city’s water treatment plant.

Schauman reminisced, “Six, seven, eight, and nine years ago, John and I were on Council. He became the Mayor, I became the Mayor Pro Tem. We’re looking at the benefits package for the city employees, and he looked at me and said ‘I just want to retire and mow grass.’ Here he is five years later and he’s done grass mowing and many, many other things. So John, thank you.”
