Editor’s Note: The following is an election announcement for a local candidate. A fee was charged to run in this space with extra color and an additional photo.

My name is Cammie Burger Morgan, and I'm running for the office of Precinct #306 Chair to serve as your representative on the Bandera County Republican Party; I am humbly asking for your vote.

I've lived in Bandera County, specifically Medina, for 53 years and while I know a lot of you, let me share a little about myself for those who don't already know me. I'm a native of the Hill Country, born in Comfort, Texas, and raised in Medina. I’m a 5th generation Bandera County resident and the 3rd generation from Medina. I attended Medina ISD and Schreiner University, where I received a B.A. in Education. I also have a Master in Education from Angelo State University. You might say I'm a born, raised, and educated Texan… and proud of it.

Thirty years ago, I married my best friend, Steve Morgan, at the Medina United Methodist Church with Pastor Harold Zirkel officiating. Together, Steve and I have raised two beautiful daughters, Hailey and Kaila, Medina ISD graduates. Our family legacy is one of hardworking farmers and ranchers who appreciate our great country and the opportunities we've been provided by the sacrifices of those who came before us, especially our veterans. While my family tree consists of an extensive list of those who served, I am honored to say that my daddy, Jesse Ray Burger, served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

I’ve been an elementary public-school teacher and counselor for 26 years working in Utopia ISD, Medina ISD, and Center Point ISD. I've received numerous honors and awards as a teacher. Still, the dear to my heart is to live in a small community where I can watch the students I've taught grow up to become hardworking and productive citizens and realize I played a small part in their development.

For my entire adult life, my goal has been to impact the lives of all youth by establishing trusting and meaningful relationships that will mold our children to become productive citizens. A significant way for me to give back to and serve our community is to volunteer. I was elected as the first President of the first Medina FFA Alumni/Booster Club and have supported the following organizations: Medina FFA, Medina Little League, Bandera County 4-H, Bandera County Junior Livestock Association, Bandera County Farm Bureau, Kerr County 4-H, Bandera County Youth Rodeo Association, and Arms of Hope (Medina Children’s Home). In 2018, the Texas FFA Association recognized me at the Texas FFA State Convention for promoting youth in agriculture. The Association awarded me with an Honorary Lonestar Farmer Degree for outstanding service to Texas Agricultural Education and the Texas FFA. Additionally, the Bandera County Farm Bureau recognized me as Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year. Finally, I am committed to supporting Medina ISD, and I try to attend most community and school-related functions.

While I have spent numerous hours supporting the youth of Bandera County, my mission is to make a difference through the continued support of our community by serving on the Bandera County Republican Party. I served as the Nominations Committee Co-Chair at the 2022 Bandera County

Republican Convention, where I was selected to serve as a Voting Delegate for the 2022 Texas State Republican Convention. As a lifelong conservative Republican, I was raised to respect hard work, individual freedom, and personal responsibility. I believe in free enterprise, which provides economic growth and prosperity. I think you have the right to keep what you’ve earned and not be burdened by big government and high taxes. We need strong borders that protect our country, stop the surge of illegals crossing our borders, and prevent the flow of illegal drugs that harm our most vulnerable citizens. Our economy is in total free fall

Our economy is in total free fall due to the increasing number of government programs that cause inflation to spiral, rising gas prices, and creating food shortages. We need a strong Republican Party to halt the Democrat Party's rush to destruction. I'm a strong Christian and respect the sanctity of life.

I pledge to you that I will work hard as your representative on the Bandera County Republican Party, listen to your concerns, and represent you to the best of my ability. I want to help ensure the growth and strength of our local party and do all I can to keep Bandera County RED! Election Day is May 24 and will occur at the Ray Mauer Annex in Bandera. Early voting is from May 16 through May 24 and will happen at the Medina Annex in Medina. Please feel free to reach out to me if I can answer any questions you may have, and be sure and vote for Cammie Burger Morgan for Republican Party Precinct Chair for Precinct 306.
