After shutting out La Pryor in the first scrimmage of the season, the Bandera defense put on another strong performance Thursday night in Natalia as the Bulldogs held the Mustangs to just one touchdown in the scripted portion of the scrimmage while pitching a shutdown in two live quarters.

The defensive effort was headlined by a big night from senior defensive end Kyle Morgan, who disrupted the Natalia offense on several occasions. Other defensive standouts included senior safety Luke Barnett and senior linebacker Matthew Staton.

On the offensive end, the Bulldogs racked up a total of 208 yards of offense and scored one touchdown in the process. Senior quarterback Tyler Moore scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and made a handful of big plays in the scrimmage, including a 40-yard completion to senior wide receiver Brandon Miller. Moore also finished with seven carries for 81 yards.

Senior Brock Johnson added nine carries for 40 yards in the run game while sophomore Jesse Cardenas had four carries for 30 yards.

With two successful scrimmages under their belt, the Bulldogs will now turn their attention toward finishing preparations for Friday’s season-opener against Poteet. Bandera will travel to take on the Aggies with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
