Whoever coined the phrase the “lazy days of summer” must have been off their rocker. This summer, the library will be chockfull of great programming for the whole family. The Summer Reading Program is going on right now for kids aged 4 to 12.

Come to the library on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for books, art, crafts and a special guest reader/performer. We will be meeting each Thursday beginning June 8 until July 27.

Monday, June 12, is the weekly meet up of our Pokémon League in the Downstairs Meeting Room at 4:30 p.m. You can keep up with all the weekly programming by checking out the library’s online calendar www. banderalibrary.org/calendar-1.

Wednesday, June 14, is a special presentation by Belong, a local non-profit organization that helps place children and teens who have been removed and placed with foster families.

The presentation will be in the Downstairs Meeting Room at 12 p.m. Come out and learn about the important work Belong does to keep our youth in safe, loving environments. If you are thinking about becoming a foster parent, come get all your questions answered.

Thursday, June 15, is a busy day. At 4 p.m. the Girls Who Code club is meeting in the Teen Center. Girls aged six and up come and learn how to code computers, build websites and more! Then, our monthly Teen Anime Night meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room. Come out and geek out about anime with other local teens. Snacks will be provided! Saturday, June 17, the library will be hosting local author David Schwarz who is sharing his new book “Beating Cancer Through Faith and Inspiration.”

His book is a collection of inspiring stories and poetry as well as a daily devotional for those who may be battling cancer now. Stop by from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to meet David and hear his moving story.

On behalf of everyone here at the Bandera Library we hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day!
