Last month, Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) released data for the Alamo region that includes Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina and Wilson counties showing November’s unemployment rate had decreased from October’s rate.

According to a report released by WSA, November unemployment rate for the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is 4.1 percent, a decrease of 0.20 percentage points over the month, from the October rate of 4.3 percent.

The November unemployment rate is lower than the state’s not seasonally adjusted (actual) rate of 4.5 percent. The Texas not-seasonally adjusted (actual) unemployment rate had a decrease of 0.30 percentage points over the month down from a rate of 4.8 percent.

The Texas November not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 8.2 percentage points below the peak rate of 12.7 recorded in April 2020.

Over the past 12 months the Texas unemployment rate dropped 2.4 per centage points from a reading of 6.9 percent.

Nationally, the U.S. not seasonally adjusted (actual) unemployment rate decreased four-tenths of a percentage point to 3.9 percent in November, down from the 4.3 percent reported in October.

Since November 2020 the U.S. unemployment rate dropped 2.5 percentage points from a reading of 6.4 percent.

Since November of 2020, 49,700 jobs were added, resulting in an annual increase of 4.7 percent.

Nine of eleven major industries in the MSA showed monthly job gains: Trade Transportation and Utilities, Professional and Business Services, Government, Leisure and Hospitality, Financial Activities, Other Services, Information, Mining and Logging, Manufacturing.

During the month of November most of the major industries reached a positive annual growth rate.

A monthly loss occurred in two major industries: Education and Health Services and Construction.
