Bandera Library Happenings

September is here, and fall is just around the corner. With so much going on, be sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter. The email goes out at the beginning of the month and details all the upcoming programming as well as the book titles available for adoption. Call the Library to get on the mailing list.

Thursday September 2, the Library Monthly Book Club is meeting at 10 a.m. They will be discussing “Mink River” by Brian Doyle.

The story is set in the fictional town of Neawanaka, on the damp coast of Oregon and it is the town itself that is the main character. The book tells the story through small glimpses into the lives of the townsfolk (including the local talking crow).

Saturday is the Friends of the Library Monthly Book Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pop in while you are waiting for the longhorns to parade down Main Street and grab a book! All books are by donation and go to support the purchase of new books for the collection.

We are also hosting an author visit on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. LinMarie Garsee is a private investigator based in the Houston area. Her newest book is called “Happy Birthday Robert” based on a real-life criminal case. Lies, lust, and deception lead to a love triangle’s tragic end. Come by, meet the author and get a copy of her book signed.

Are you a crafty person or love building things with your hands? The library is going to start a large decorating project this fall, and we need volunteers to help out. Contact Karen at the Library to get signed up. It’s fun to be crafty!

The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7.

Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.

Happy tales, y’all.

Mauri Guillen Fagan is the Director of the Bandera Public Library.
