TEXAS FARM BUREAU HEALTH PLANS OFFERS AFFORDABLE CHOICE

June 28, 2023 - 00:00

Finding affordable health care is a challenge for many Texans.

Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Health Plans includes individual and family plans, dental and vision coverage, and Medicate supplement plans for those needing a more affordable health care option, according to Booker Young, president of the Bandera County Farm Bureau.

“A Farm Bureau membership is not required to receive a quote or speak to a representative to learn more about TFB Health Plans. Also, there is no enrollment period for TFB Health Plans. You can apply at any time throughout the year,” said Booker. “A Farm Bureau membership is required prior to enrolling for coverage, though.”

Each applicant is individually rated based on their medical history. This can result in offering coverage for significantly less than can currently be found in the health care marketplace.

TFB Health Plans utilizes the extensive UnitedHealth Care Choice Plus network for hospitals and doctors. People can verify their provider by visiting the find-a-provider link at https://tfbhp.com/ or by calling 877-500-0140, as well as during the application process.

“Farmers, ranchers, those who work on farms, agribusiness owners and workers and rural entrepreneurs who have two or fewer employees indicate it is difficult to access or afford traditional health plans,” Booker said. “TFB Health Plans has the right plan to meet your health needs and your budget.”

A bill, HB 3924, allowing TFB to use its statewide infrastructure to provide health plans to members was approved by the Texas Legislature in 2021.
