The Women of Grace Lutheran Church had more than 80 quilts blessed during a church service Oct. 25 before they were shipped to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to people in need around the world.
The ministry also supports people in the United States. Last year, its reach extended to neighbors affected by disasters, including flash flooding in Central Texas. According to the church, within 12 hours of the flooding, Lutheran World Relief quilts had reached people in need.
The quilting ministry welcomes volunteers of all skill levels, including those interested in learning how to tie knots or sew quilt structures. The group says quilting offers opportunities for fellowship and community involvement while creating handmade items for people in need.
Upcoming quilting sessions are scheduled for 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, and Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Grace Lutheran Church, 451 Texas 173 in Bandera. All are welcome to participate.
