Water district candidates set Oct. 6 forum

The League of Women Voters of Hill Country Texas will host a candidate forum Oct. 6 for the two candidates seeking the Bandera County River Authority & Groundwater District Board’s director-at-large position.

Rebeca Gibson and Kevin Meier have accepted invitations to participate in the forum, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Silver Sage Great Room, 803 Buck Creek Drive in Bandera. The event is open to the public and free to attend. The election is nonpartisan, meaning candidates do not declare a political party. Because the position is elected at-large, all registered voters who reside in Bandera County are eligible to vote.

The forum will follow the League’s standard format. Attendees may submit questions on cards provided at the door. League members will screen the questions before they are presented to the candidates. There will be no open-mic portion. Each candidate will have two minutes for an opening statement. Candidates will then alternate answering questions, with a one-minute limit for each response. The moderator will ask additional questions as time allows, followed by one-minute closing statements from each candidate. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan civic organization and does not endorse or oppose candidates. The Hill Country Texas League has worked for more than 40 years to register voters, provide election information and encourage civic participation. It serves Bandera, Blanco, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr and Llano counties.

Early voting is scheduled for Oct. 19-30, with Election Day on Nov. 3.
