Thirteen Bandera High School jazz band students traveled to Fredericksburg High School on Saturday, Sept. 12, to audition for the Region 29/32 Jazz Band.
Nine Bandera students earned spots in the regional jazz band, including three who advanced to Area competition.
Alex Martinez earned second chair in the first band on alto saxophone and advanced to Area.
Gauge Hastings earned second chair in the first band on tenor saxophone and also advanced to Area.
On trumpet, Brianna Moore earned third chair in the first band and advanced to Area. Logan Montejano earned second chair in the second band, Evan Delaney earned third chair in the second band, and Lauren McDougall earned fifth chair in the second band.
Travis Kinsey earned third chair in the second band on trombone.
Emma Rynarzewski earned first chair in the second band on piano, while Javier Zurita earned second chair in the second band on drums.
Martinez, Hastings and Moore auditioned and recorded for the All-State Jazz Band at the Area level Wednesday, Sept. 16. Results were not available by press time.
The Bandera band program congratulated the students on their accomplishments and said it was proud of their work.
