Thirteen longhorns surrounded by a dozen riders ambled slowly down Main Street shortly after 11 a.m. to start Bandera’s annual Labor Day Parade under partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the high 70s.
The herd represented the huge numbers of longhorns that began on the Great Western Trail Drive in Bandera and wound their way north to rail lines in Kansas and Nebraska.
A small ATV representing major parade sponsor Tractor Supply followed the longhorns down the road.
