The Bandera County Sheriff’s Office assisted Bandera County Precinct 2 Constable Greg Spengler in executing a search and seizure warrant Friday morning at the We Care Wildlife Sanctuary in Lakehills, according to officials.
According to a statement from Sheriff Josh Teitge, the warrant was executed at approximately 7 a.m. Sept. 4.
Representatives from the American Humane Society, San Antonio Zoo, veterinarians and livestock specialists were at the sanctuary and conducted medical assessments of the animals and evaluated their living conditions, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Following the medical assessments, multiple animals were seized and transported to appropriate locations for further treatment and testing.
The Sheriff's Office did not identify the animals that were seized or provide additional details about their medical conditions.
Spengler continues to lead the investigation, and the Sheriff's Office said it will continue to support his investigative efforts.
“As this remains an ongoing investigation, any specific questions regarding the case should be directed to Constable Greg Spengler,” Teitge said in the statement.
