Texas Mutual gives nonprofits $150k for flood recovery

Texas Mutual Insurance Company is donating $150,000 to three Texas Hill Country nonprofit organizations to support recovery and rebuilding efforts following severe flooding in the region July 16.

The Austin-based workers’ compensation insurance provider announced the donations Aug. 25.

According to a press release, the funding will support small businesses, locally coordinated longterm recovery efforts and broader rebuilding needs.

The largest portion, $110,000, will go to LiftFund.

The funding will provide 10 grants of $10,000 each to small businesses affected by the flooding, with an additional $10,000 designated for program administration.

Small businesses in all 16 counties impacted by the flooding are eligible for the grants.

Another $20,000 will go to the Kerr Together Long-Term Recovery Group through the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

The funding will support locally coordinated response and long-term recovery efforts addressing ongoing needs of individuals, families and the community.

The remaining $20,000 will go to the Rebuild Texas Fund through the OneStar Foundation to support broader recovery and rebuilding needs associated with the Hill Country flooding.

“Creating a stronger, safer Texas means standing with communities in their greatest moments of need and supporting the nonprofit organizations that help them recover,” said Veronica Martinez, senior manager of impact and community partnerships at Texas Mutual. “Across the Texas Hill Country, nonprofits are providing critical services and helping families and small businesses rebuild after devastating floods. We're honored to support their work and invest in the organizations that are strengthening communities today and for the future.”

Texas Mutual said recovery needs continue to evolve and that it will remain connected with its partners and affected communities to determine where future support could make a meaningful difference.

The company said supporting communities across Texas, particularly following disasters, is a core part of its corporate citizenship efforts.
