The Bandera High School cross country teams competed in the Medina Valley Invitational on Aug. 29, with the varsity Lady Bulldogs finishing second among nine teams and several runners earning individual recognition.
The varsity Lady Bulldogs finished with 40 points, 13 points behind the first-place team. Junior Kaylee Fried led Bandera with a fifth-place finish.
Milesia Casas finished eighth, Aubrie Moore was 10th and Cassi Williams placed 11th, with all three earning medals. Olivia Rynarzewski finished 16th and narrowly missed a medal.
The junior varsity Lady Bulldogs placed ninth among 17 teams. Freshman Sydney Bowman led Bandera with a 35th-place finish, followed by sophomores Jayla Hinojo in 56th, Abigail Gilbert in 58th, Emersyn Flora in 66th and Alivia Pack in 69th.
The varsity Bulldogs finished ninth among 15 teams in the small-school division. Freshman Rudy Esparza led Bandera with a 35th-place finish. Other Bandera runners were Luciano Martinez, Michael Ramirez, Sebastian Acosta, Walter Roque, Tristan Quiroga, Carson Garza and Dominic Garcia. The junior varsity Bulldogs competed with four runners, one short of the number needed to field a full team. Freshman Samuel Hernandez led the group, followed by Talin Edwards, Kash Griffith and Carson Rose.
