The Bandera County Convention and Visitors Bureau reported a difficult second quarter as tourism declined and revenue fell about $30,000 short of expectations.
CVB Chairman Greg Hicks updated Bandera County commissioners during their regular meeting Thursday, Aug. 13, saying May and June were particularly challenging.
State tourism also declined by an estimated 9% to 11%, according to the bureau.
County officials said recent flooding and ongoing drought conditions may have contributed to the decrease in tourism.
Commissioners also discussed changes in the local lodging market that could affect HOT revenue.
In other business, commissioners set a public hearing for Sept. 10 on the county’s proposed budget and tax rate.
The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Bandera County Courthouse, after which commissioners are expected to vote on adopting both.
