Arthur Nagel Clinic to honor community leaders at annual Cork and Fork gala

The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic will recognize three community leaders for their service during its 12th Annual Cork and Fork Lone Star Liberty gala on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The annual fundraiser will feature fine dining, live music, auctions and a patriotic celebration, with proceeds supporting the clinic's mission of providing health care to uninsured and underserved residents throughout the Texas Hill Country.

Among the evening's highlights will be the presentation of the clinic's 2026 Hometown Hero awards to Susan Junker and Buck Murray.

The honor recognizes individuals whose generosity, leadership, volunteerism and commitment have strengthened Bandera County and improved the lives of its residents.

'This honor celebrates individuals whose generosity, leadership, volunteerism and unwavering commitment have strengthened Bandera County and improved the lives of its residents,' the clinic said in a news release. 'Through their service and dedication, they embody the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors and remind us that thriving rural communities are built by people willing to invest in one another.'

The gala also will feature the inaugural presentation of the Champion of Care Rural Healthcare Excellence Award.

Established this year, the award recognizes individuals whose compassion, leadership, innovation and commitment have advanced access to quality health care in the Texas Hill Country.

The first recipient will be Susan Broa, the clinic's clinical director.

According to the clinic, Broa has devoted more than 18 years to improving the health of Bandera County residents through compassionate patient care, clinical leadership and an unwavering commitment to serving the community.

'We are proud to present the first Champion of Care Rural Healthcare Excellence Award to Susan Broa,' the clinic said. 'Her steady leadership and dedication have helped shape the clinic into the trusted health care resource it is today.'

The event also follows another recent milestone for the clinic.

Arthur Nagel Community Clinic recently earned the TXACC Gold Seal from the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics, recognizing its commitment to providing high quality, compassionate care and continuously improving services.

'This recognition reflects our commitment to providing high quality, compassionate care, and continuously improving the services we provide to our community,' the clinic said. 'Thank you to our staff, volunteers, partners and supporters who make this work possible.'
