The Lakehills Area Library is featuring the work of fiber artist Anna Macnak throughout July.
Macnak moved from the Pacific Northwest to Texas in 2010 and now lives in Lakehills with her husband, Greg. Around the time of the move, she discovered a passion for quilting.
She describes her work as being inspired by the natural world and often recreates special places she has visited, including Funter Bay, Alaska, through fiber art. She also strives to mirror nature through her choice of fabrics and quilt designs.
One of her original quilts, One World, was designed by Macnak and quilted by Kustom Kwilts of Pipe Creek. The piece features a paper-pieced pattern of women representing every continent, symbolizing women coming together 'to care for and heal our world.'
One World received an honorable mention at the Hill Country Quilt Guild's 2025 Quilt Show.
Macnak is also a Texas Master Naturalist with the Hill Country Chapter and serves as center director for the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center in San Antonio.
