K'STAR to host annual Big Ta-Do fundraiser Sept. 12

K'STAR will host its annual Big Ta-Do Chili Cook-Off, Car and Bike Show on Saturday, Sept. 12, to raise money for its Emergency Children's Shelter in Kerrville.

The fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 Hwy. 27 in Kerrville. The event will feature a chili cookoff, classic cars and motorcycles, live music, vendors, raffles and family activities. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free, while admission for adults is $5.

According to K'STAR, the goal is to raise $70,000 to replace the roof of its Emergency Children's Shelter, which provides a safe home for children in crisis. The organization said replacing the roof is essential to maintaining a secure environment for the children it serves.

'This year, our goal is to raise $70,000 to help replace the roof of our Emergency Children's Shelter,' the organization said in its event materials. 'With your support, we can continue providing a place where healing begins and ensure every child who walks through our doors has a safe place to call home.'

K'STAR expects more than 500 people to attend the event, which also includes a silent auction and opportunities for businesses and individuals to support the fundraiser through sponsorships, vendor booths, raffle donations and monetary contributions.

K'STAR is a nonprofit organization that operates an emergency children's shelter, family counseling center, Halo's Kloset and family support services for children and families throughout the Texas Hill Country.
