Saturday, Aug. 1, we will have our monthly book sale. We will also have a special guest, local author Tom McEachin. His published book, 'The Metamorphosis of Marna Love,' is a young adult novel. He will be at the library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign books and talk to the community. He will discuss the book at 11 a.m.
Monday, Aug. 3, and Monday, Aug. 17, the Christian Classic Literature Book Club will continue to discuss 'Devotional Classics' by Richard J. Foster and James Bryan Smith. A copy is available at the library for checkout.
Saturday, Aug. 15, the Lakehills Area Library Garden Club will have a presentation on plant propagation by Nancy Mills. The program is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Thursday, Aug. 20, is the Alamo RCD Senior Social. Lunch and entertainment will be provided for those who attend. If you are not registered, you can visit the Alamo RCD website to register for the program.
Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m., local mosaic artist Sherry Hearn will teach a class. You can register for the class and pay the materials fee at the library or through Hearn.
The library now has a writers group for local writing enthusiasts to meet and discuss all aspects of writing, publishing and critiquing each other's work. The monthly meeting is held on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. in the library meeting room. In August, the meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Also on Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Lakehills Area Library evening book club will meet to discuss 'Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers' by Jesse Q. Sutanto. The book club meets at 5:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Aug. 27, Alamo RCD will return with a Senior Lunch and Learn. Seniors will be treated to lunch and a speaker who will share information of interest to them. If you are not registered, you can visit the Alamo RCD website to register for the program.
Every Friday in August, the Lakehills Area Library Yarn Club will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Enjoy camaraderie with other crafters while working on the craft of your choice or learning from an experienced crafter. Knit, crochet, try wool felting, embroidery or sewing, or bring whatever you are working on.
The library will host the photography of Delaney Morrison during August as part of our Art in the Library program. If you are an artist and would like to display your work locally, please contact the library to get on the display schedule.
Preschool Storytime will return in September every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m., beginning Wednesday, Sept. 2.
The Lakehills Area Library is located at 7200 FM 1283 in Lakehills. Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Sunday.
