Hope For The Warriors and global staffing firm Robert Half will host a free virtual career workshop July 23 to help veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses prepare for civilian employment.
The workshop, titled 'National Hire a Veteran Day, Employer Spotlight Panel,' is scheduled for 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, July 23, and is the second session in a four-part career development series.
Career coaches from Hope For The Warriors and Robert Half will lead the interactive discussion, focusing on what employers seek in veteran candidates, how military experience can be translated into civilian terms and ways job seekers can stand out in a competitive hiring market.
Representatives from Forward Air, Caliber-Inc., S&P Global and other employers will participate in the panel, offering insight into hiring and recruiting practices.
Topics will include resume writing, applicant tracking systems, interview strategies, networking, the use of artificial intelligence in job searches, career readiness and common misconceptions employers and veterans face during the hiring process.
Participants may submit career and employment questions during registration, with organizers emphasizing a conversational format that encourages direct interaction with career coaches and employer representatives.
The workshop is part of Hope For The Warriors' Warrior's Compass transition program, which provides free training and networking opportunities to veterans, active-duty service members and military spouses preparing for civilian careers.
'The National Hire a Veteran Day, Employer Spotlight Panel workshop gives members of the military community direct access to have an interactive discussion with employers who understand the value of military experience and can speak to what companies are looking for in today's hiring environment,' said Brian Papakie, director of transition services and life roles for Hope For The Warriors and a retired U.S. Marine.
Hope For The Warriors and Robert Half will host two additional free virtual workshops this year. A Sept. 17 session will focus on applicant tracking systems and improving job application visibility, while a Nov. 19 workshop will cover salary negotiation and compensation strategies.
Registration is available through Hope For The Warriors' website.
