LAKEHILLS — The Lakehills Area Library will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
The Christian Classic Literature Book Club will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, and Monday, July 20.
Alamo Resource Conservation and Development will host a Senior Social luncheon Thursday, July 16, at the library. Those interested in attending should contact Alamo RCD at alamorcd. [email protected].
The Garden Club will host an informational meeting from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18, in the library meeting room. The featured presentation will focus on rainwater collection. The public is invited to attend.
The Evening Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, to discuss The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick.
Alamo RCD will host a Senior Lunch and Learn at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31. Those interested in attending should contact alamorcd. [email protected].
Summer Reading programs will continue throughout July at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday.
• July 1 — Mr. Blue Shoe will present music, singing and dancing for children of all ages.
• July 8 — Local fossil expert Helen Cunningham will teach children about fossils and share pieces from her collection. Participants will also excavate handmade rocks to uncover hidden dinosaur skeletons.
• July 15 — The library will welcome exotic animals from Happy Tails.
• July 22 — Science Heroes will present an educational science show.
• July 29 — The summer reading program will conclude with an indoor movie party. Food and drinks will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks, drinks, pillows and blankets. Preschool Storytime will continue every Friday at 10:30 a.m. with songs, stories, crafts and friendship activities.
Yarn Club meets every Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The group welcomes beginners and experienced crafters interested in crochet, knitting, embroidery, wool felting and other handcrafts. Participants may learn new skills or share their own. The club offers a casual environment for people who enjoy creating handmade items.
The library’s July Artist of the Month is Anna Macnak, whose fiber arts display will be featured throughout the month.
