Gumball Rally 3000 drew hundreds of attendees as racecars zipped through 11th Street last Monday.
The drivers later gathered at 11th Street Cowboy Bar, where Founder Maximillian Cooper was presented with several Bandera themed gifts from city and county officials.
A cowboy themed parade later preceded the racecars leaving the city, a Bandera thank you for the organization choosing the small town as one of their stops.
The drivers had come in through Austin, stopping at Bandera on their way to the final destination: Monterrey, where “gumballers” received a ticket to the Opening Match of FIFA World Cup 2026, which took place at Estadio Azteca on June 11.
Each racecar was covered from top to bottom with stickers; a staple look for gumballers. Among one of the “gumballers” was Fast and Furious celebrity Michelle Rodriguez, who stopped to take photos with some of the attendees at Bandera’s event.
All businesses on Main Street were requested to open their doors to cater to the crowds. City council member Lynn Palmer thanked Cooper for the economic impact his organization brought.
“You’ve been a great boost for our economy,” Palmer said. “Thank you so much for choosing us.”
Palmer then presented Cooper with a handmade shadowbox with Bandera memorabilia.
In return, Cooper presented Palmer and county commissioners Troy Konvicka and Jack Moseley with Gumball Rally jackets.
“Thank you, Bandera,” Cooper said, “for hosting us here. It’s absolutely fantastic, absolutely spectacular.”
