FEMA flood maps released

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps, or FIRMs, are available for review in portions of the unincorporated areas of Bandera County.

The maps identify Special Flood Hazard Areas, which FEMA defines as locations at high risk for flooding.

Officials said the updated maps are intended to help residents, property owners and local leaders make informed decisions about flood insurance, construction standards and future development.
