TMN discussing native seeds

The Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter will host a public presentation on ecological land restoration using native seeds Monday, May 18, in Kerrville.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Guadalupe Basin Natural Resources Center, 125 Lehmann Drive, Suite 100. Attendees may also participate online through Zoom or Facebook livestream.

The featured presentation, “Ecological Solutions to Restore the Land with Native Seed,” will be led by Bill Neiman of Native American Seed Company.

According to organizers, the presentation will focus on restoring natural landscapes through the use of native seeds and sustainable land management practices.

Neiman, who co-founded Native American Seed with his wife, Jan, has spent decades working in native seed production, ecological restoration and environmental education. Based in Junction, the company specializes in ethical native seed harvesting and restoration projects throughout Texas.

Organizers said Neiman’s lifelong connection to the outdoors and experiences in wilderness areas inspired his commitment to conservation and restoring native ecosystems.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with refreshments available. The chapter’s monthly business meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Neiman’s presentation at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter is sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and serves 10 counties, including Bandera.
