Wright submits resignation as City Treasurer, effective May 15

City Treasurer Allyson Wright has resigned from her position, effective May 15, following seven years with the city.

Wright submitted her resignation at the conclusion of the April 28 City Council meeting.

In her letter to the mayor and council, Wright wrote that she was “sincerely grateful for the opportunities” she had during her tenure and took pride in the city’s financial standing, noting Bandera’s “unqualified audit and zero findings.”

She also indicated a shift in direction at City Hall influenced her decision.

“Over the past several months I have noticed a shift in council’s priorities,” Wright wrote in part, “and these no longer align with what I see as being best for this City.”

In the full letter, Wright stated:

“Please consider this my official resignation as City Treasurer, effective 5/15/26.

Reflecting on my seven years with the City, I am sincerely grateful for the opportunities I have had to grow professionally and personally. It has been a privilege to serve this community, and I take immense pride in the milestones we have achieved during my tenure. Most notably, I am proud to depart leaving the City with an unqualified audit and zero findings.

However, it is with a heavy heart that I must move on. Over the past several months I have noticed a shift in council’s priorities, and these no longer align with what I see as being best for this City.

I want to ensure a smooth transition for the city during my remaining time. Please let me know how I can best assist in handing over my current projects and responsibilities.

I wish the staff and the citizens of Bandera nothing but the best.”

Mayor Denise Griffin acknowledged Wright’s service during the meeting, telling her, “You will be sorely missed.”
