The Bandera City Council made sweeping changes to its Economic Development Corporation while delaying a decision on Flock Safety cameras during a tense meeting Tuesday, March 24.
The council appointed five new members to the EDC — Diane Walters, Andrea Jankoski, Kim McCab, Nancy De Foster and Gay Guillot — filling seats opened by expiring terms and a recent resignation.
Walters, Jankoski and McCab were each appointed unanimously.
De Foster and Guillot, however, were approved by split votes, with council members Jeff Flowers and Lynn Palmer voting against both appointments.
The new appointments come as multiple EDC seats became available with terms for Manny Longoria, Palmer, Patricia McMullan and Eric Cothran set to expire March 27, along with the recent resignation of Betheny Tankersley.
In addition to the appointments, council members revisited the issue of Flock Safety cameras, which has drawn ongoing scrutiny. After discussion, the item was tabled due to concerns over contractual and financial obligations tied to a previous agreement.
City officials said the city could be responsible for the full $17,000 contract cost. Options discussed included allowing the contract to run without installing the cameras or proceeding with installation as a one-year trial.
The item is expected to return on a future agenda.
