SPJST rally to offer food, games and veterans drive

SPJST will host its second annual District 7 Rally on Sunday, March 22, offering families across South Texas a free afternoon of food, games and community service.

The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lodge 107 in Floresville and is open to both SPJST members and the public.

Organizers say the rally is designed to provide families with a meaningful, low-cost way to spend time together while supporting a charitable cause. The event will feature lunch, games and prizes for attendees of all ages.

This year’s rally will benefit residents of the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home. Participants are encouraged to bring donations of new socks, undershirts and snack items such as powdered doughnuts, honey buns and pudding cups for veterans living at the facility.

A silent auction featuring homemade baked goods will also be held during the rally, with proceeds supporting a new roof for the lodge.

The event welcomes residents from throughout SPJST District 7, which includes counties across South Texas such as Atascosa, Bandera, Bee, Bexar, Brooks, Cameron, Comal, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, Frio, Guadalupe, Hays, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kenedy, Kinney, Kleberg, La Salle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Nueces, Real, San Patricio, Starr, Uvalde, Webb, Willacy, Wilson, Zapata and Zavala.

Founded in 1897, SPJST is a fraternal benefit society that provides life insurance and annuity products while supporting communities through volunteerism, education programs and local service initiatives.

Admission to the rally is free, and community members are encouraged to attend.
