Farmers in Bandera County are inviting the public to learn how food goes from field to fork during Texas Food Connection Day. The statewide initiative encourages farmers and ranchers to host community activities, donate to local charities, and answer questions about agriculture. The Bandera County Farm Bureau is supporting the local food pantry, Bandera Helping Hands, as part of the effort.
“Texas Food Connection Day is about sharing what we do on our farms and ranches to grow our food,” said Booker Young, president of the Bandera County Farm Bureau. “Many people want to know more about where our food comes from and how it’s grown. This event gives them a chance to have their questions answered by local farmers and ranchers.”
Young noted that while the event is annual, farmers welcome ongoing conversations about sustainable practices. “We work hard to provide families with fresh, nutritious and affordable food, and we feed our families the same foods that consumers buy in the grocery store,” he said. “Modern agriculture is sustainable and has made many advancements. We’re proud to be part of Texas agriculture and our community.”
Texas Food Connection Day encourages discussions on agriculture, including affordability, nutrition, animal welfare, profitability, and productivity. For more information on local activities, contact the Bandera County Farm Bureau at (830) 796-3077.
