Two Bandera tourism staples are looking to add staff as the spring and summer travel season approaches.
The Bandera County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the historic Old Spanish Trail Restaurant have both issued hiring calls, seeking workers to help support the area’s growing tourism economy.
The Bandera County Convention and Visitors Bureau is advertising for a Marketing/ Tourism Marketer to assist with promoting Bandera as a visitor destination. According to the job posting, the position will focus on developing marketing campaigns, managing social media platforms, assisting with website updates and coordinating advertising and visitor guides.
The role will also involve working with local businesses and event organizers to promote attractions and helping staff the Bandera Visitor Center.
The bureau promotes Bandera — known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World” — as a destination for Western heritage, music, outdoor recreation and Hill Country tourism.
Applicants are expected to have strong communication skills, experience or interest in marketing or public relations, and familiarity with digital marketing tools. The position will also involve attending and promoting local festivals, rodeos and community events.
Interested applicants can contact CVB Executive Director Carita Jundt for more information at (830) 796-3045 or director@ banderacowboycapital.com.
Meanwhile, Old Spanish Trail Restaurant (OST) is also seeking employees for several positions as the longtime Bandera landmark continues under relatively new ownership.
According to the restaurant, the business is currently looking for line cooks or chefs, dishwashers and assistant managers, though owners said they may consider applicants for additional roles.
“We almost want to put ‘all positions’ just to see what talent we can find,” said General Manager Robert Hatton, noting that strong hires could help fill anticipated needs as the restaurant grows.
The Old Spanish Trail Restaurant changed ownership in 2025 when it was purchased by Frank and Karen Hicks and Diana Walters, who also own the nearby First National Ice Haus. The new owners said at the time they intended to preserve the restaurant’s character while continuing its legacy in Bandera.
Founded in 1921, OST is one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in Texas and has long been a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
Both hiring efforts come as Bandera prepares for its busy tourism season, when visitors arrive for rodeos, festivals, live music and Hill Country recreation.
Officials say the additional staffing will help local organizations and businesses continue welcoming travelers while supporting the town’s tourism- driven economy.
