Community association launches “Pipe Creek Talks” series

The Pipe Creek Community Association will launch a new community discussion series, “Pipe Creek Talks,” with a presentation on local water resources scheduled for Monday, March 16.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 1331 FM 1283.

Dave Mauk, general manager of the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District, will present the program titled “State of the District.”

The presentation will cover topics including the district’s mission, local aquifer basics, groundwater and rainfall monitoring, and early flood warning systems.

Organizers said the new speaker series is designed to provide Pipe Creek area residents with opportunities to gather and learn about issues affecting the community, including development, governance and natural resource management.

Future presentations are expected to address additional topics of community interest. One planned discussion will examine the potential benefits and challenges of Emergency Services Districts, which are currently being explored in nearby communities such as Medina and Lakehills.

Hospitality for the March 16 event will be provided by the Pipe Creek Community Association’s community events team.
