Can He Be Trusted?
Detroit’s FOX NEWS doesn’t trust him. Its network is famous for conservative, pro-Republican support. So it’s surprising that a Fox station criticized Trump’s State of The Union speech. This link - youtube. com/watch?v=zWUgR65viNw – connects you to its newscast.
You see a Fox anchor saying Fox has a “simple standard” and Trump violated it - “telling the truth.”
The anchor points out a Trump lie at 1:38 in the broadcast when Trump says in his State of the Union speech, that he inherited a “nation in crisis” with “a stagnant economy” and “inflation at record levels” when he took office in his second term.
At 1:58 in the broadcast, the Fox anchor corrects him: “Saying the economy was stagnant just isn’t true. In fact, take a look at this. The U.S. GDP (its gross domestic product) rose 2.8% in 2024, President’s Biden’s last year in office. And that’s actually higher than the 2.2% during the start of the president’s second term.”
At 2:52 in the broadcast, Trump tells this lie: “Incomes are rising fast; the roaring economy is roaring like never before…” At 2:59 in the broadcast, the anchor corrects him: “All right, that’s not true either. You see after taxes, incomes which are adjusted for inflation, rose less than a percent in 2025, just point 9%, that’s down from 2.2%, again, in Biden’s last year in office…” Click on the link in this column’s 4th paragraph to watch the rest of that Fox News broadcast. Now check ABC, NBC CBS and NPR. They list Trump’s false claims in that State of The Union speech, that have little or no evidence to support his charges of wrongdoing and exaggerations.
