The Bandera High School speech and debate team competed last week at the National Speech and Debate Association district tournament, a national qualifying event featuring competitors from Class 4A, 5A and 6A schools.
Bandera, which has been an NSDA member for four years and earned

Senior Sydney McDaniel was a finalist in House Congressional Debate and placed seventh in U.S. extemporaneous speaking.
Junior Tristan Boyes competed in Senate Congressional Debate and was a quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, while junior Aiden Garcia also reached the quarterfinal round in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Senior Alyssa Ruch qualified for the National Speech and Debate Tournament for the second time in her career after posting an undefeated 6–0 record in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
The national tournament will be held in June in Virginia.
