Sonya Meyers, a coordinator involved in Kerr County’s long-term flood recovery efforts, will be the featured speaker at the March luncheon of the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, in the lecture hall at 125 Lehmann Drive in Kerrville. Guests and members may begin signing in at 11:15 a.m., with the business meeting starting at 11:45 a.m.
Meyers’ presentation will begin at noon, and the event will conclude at 1 p.m.
Meyers has worked since August with Rebuild Kerr, an initiative established by the Community Foundation of the Hill Country to oversee distribution of funds from the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
She serves as associate director of programs with Connective Houston TX, where she manages disaster case management and temporary housing programs connected to the recovery effort. She also supports housing repair, relocation and assistance programs.
Recovery efforts began after the July 4, 2025, flood, which caused widespread damage and prompted financial support from across Texas and the nation.
The recovery has since expanded into a multi-year effort addressing housing, mental health, business recovery and long-term community resilience.
Organizers said attendees will have an opportunity to hear updates on recovery progress and ask questions about ongoing efforts.
The luncheon is open to the public. Reservations are requested by March 6 by emailing treasurer4hcct-dw@ gmail.com . Box lunches are available for $15, or attendees may choose a beverage option for $5 or bring their own lunch.
The Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women includes members from Bandera, Gillespie and Kerr counties and meets monthly from September through May.
