The Lakehills Area Library will host a variety of educational programs, community events and volunteer opportunities throughout March, including classes for seniors, a plant sale and a community cleanup day.
The month begins with a book sale Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., when the library’s book barns will be open to visitors looking for discounted titles.
On Monday, March 9, the library will offer a Mature Drivers Class from 2 to 3 p.m. led by Jessica Fabian of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. The class is designed for seniors and will focus on helping older drivers recognize changes that can affect driving safety. Participants are asked to call the library to register.
Alamo Resource Conservation and Development will host a Senior Social on Thursday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing an opportunity for area seniors to gather and connect.
Gardeners will have two opportunities to participate Saturday, March 21, during the Garden Club Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Molly Keck will also present “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Bugs Every Garden Needs” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering information on beneficial and harmful insects commonly found in gardens.
Bandera Jewelers will host a Goldrush event Monday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where residents can bring unwanted gold, silver and other precious metals and gems to sell at market price. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library to support its programs and services.
On Tuesday, March 24, independent insurance agent Darren Bemis will present a Medicare seminar from 10 a.m. to noon to help residents age 65 and older better understand their Medicare options.
Alamo Resource Conservation and Development will return Thursday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to host a Senior Lunch and Learn.
The month will conclude with the library’s Board Clean Up Day on Saturday, March 28, beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers are invited to assist library board members and staff with cleanup and maintenance projects.
The Lakehills Area Library is located at 7200 FM 1283 in Lakehills. The library is open Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
