Frontier Times Museum announces schedule for spring break activities

The Frontier Times Museum will host a weeklong series of activities during spring break, March 9–13, celebrating America’s 250th birthday with daily programs, demonstrations and hands-on experiences.

Events will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the museum, with all activities included with regular admission, according to museum organizers.

The week will begin Monday, March 9, with “Fantastic First Americans,” featuring flintknapping demonstrations, artifact identification and atlatl throwing. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and crafts.

Tuesday’s theme, “Wild America,” will include bird and wildlife presentations, native Texas animal encounters and a live animal show featuring species such as porcupines, boas and alpacas. Watercolor painting activities will also be offered.

On Wednesday, March 11, “I Wool Always Love Ewe America” will focus on agriculture and fiber arts, with sheep shearing demonstrations, weaving activities and opportunities to interact with livestock, including goats and horses.

Thursday’s “Protecting America” program will highlight local first responders, with representatives from Bandera EMS, Bandera Fire & Rescue, the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office, the American Legion and Texas Game Wardens scheduled to attend.

The week will conclude Friday, March 13, with “America: Deep in the Heart of Texas,” featuring Scottish Highland cattle, camels, watercolor activities and a trick roping demonstration by Kevin Fitzpatrick. Blue Bell ice cream will also be available.

Wagon rides will be offered throughout the week, and museum officials said the event is designed to provide interactive opportunities for families to learn about American history and culture.

The Frontier Times Museum is located at 510 13th St. in Bandera. For more information, call 830-796-3864 or visit frontiertimesmuseum. org.
