Bandera softball rallies for walk-off against Llano

The Bandera varsity Bulldogs outlasted Llano in a back-and-forth battle Feb. 10, securing a 22-21 walk-off victory in dramatic fashion.

With the score tied at 21 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Taylor Marrs delivered the game-winning hit, singling to drive in the deciding run and complete the comeback.

Bandera’s offense was led by Jasmine Longoria, who drove in four runs and went 3 for 4 from the leadoff spot. Marrs, Longoria and Haily Livingston each recorded three hits, while Riley Lalanne added two hits.

Bandera struck first in the opening inning when Lalanne singled to bring home a run. The Bulldogs then erupted for 14 runs in the second inning, taking advantage of timely hits, walks and aggressive baserunning to build a commanding lead. Longoria highlighted the inning with a triple and a double, each driving in runs.

Llano answered with five runs in the third inning and continued to chip away, eventually surging ahead in the sixth after scoring five runs to take a 19-16 lead.

Bandera responded immediately in the bottom of the sixth. Rehnahta Gomez delivered a key triple that brought in three runs as the Bulldogs regained the advantage, 21-19.

Llano refused to go away, tying the game in the seventh on a home run to center field. But Bandera had the final say when Marrs’ single ended the contest.

Mia Ranly pitched all seven innings for Bandera, striking out nine batters. Offensively, the Bulldogs finished with 14 hits, drew 18 walks and stole four bases.

Llano collected 17 hits and showed aggressive baserunning throughout the game.

Bandera will travel to Junction on Thursday for its next game.
