What do you want voters to know about you?
I have proudly served 27 years in Bandera County government, including 2 years as Assistant Treasurer, and now serving my 8th year as your County Treasurer. Experience matters, and I bring decades of hands-on knowledge to this office every single day. I’ve called Bandera County home for 37 years. My husband and I just celebrated 33 years and raised 3 wonderful children, and have been blessed with 3 beautiful granddaughters. This community isn’t just where I work-it’s where my family lives, worships, and calls home. I believe in being honest, dependable, and trustworthy. My Christian faith guides me to serve with integrity, accountability, and respect for every taxpayer dollar. It is an honor to serve the people of Bandera County, and I will continue to work hard to protect your finances and uphold the responsibilities of this office.
What will your priorities be, both short-term and long-term?
What do you see as your office’s biggest challenge, and how do you plan to address it?
Short-Term: Continue strong oversight of county funds with accuracy, transparency, and daily accountability. Ensure bills are paid on time, funds are balanced properly, and investments are handled conservatively and responsibly. Keep clear, open communication with Commissioners Court, department heads, and the public so everyone understands where county finances stand. Serve citizens, vendors, and county employees with professionalism, respect, and efficiency.
Long-Term: Help prepare Bandera County for growth while maintaining conservative and responsible fund management. Continue improving technology and processes to make the Treasurer’s Office more efficient and secure. Focus on safe, steady returns that protect principal while maximizing value for taxpayers. Ensure staff are well-trained and prepared to maintain continuity and institutional knowledge. Work with county leadership to keep Bandera County financially strong without unnecessary risk or burden on taxpayers.
As Bandera County grows, so do transaction volume, reporting requirements, compliance standards, cybersecurity risks, and public expectations for transparency. At the same time, taxpayers expect careful, conservative management of their dollars. Growth brings opportunity - but it also increases complexity and risk. In order to address this, we need to continue strengthening safeguards to protect county funds from error, fraud, and cyber threats. Prioritize safe investments and responsible cash flow management to protect principal first. Improve systems and processes to handle increased workload without sacrificing accuracy. Work closely with Commissioners Court, department heads, and the auditor to ensure everyone understands the county’s financial position. With 27 years in county government and 8 years as Treasurer, I rely on experience, training, and steady decision-making - not guesswork.
Campaigns often focus on change. What is something you believe is important to maintain?
Bandera County deserves steady, conservative management of taxpayer dollars. Maintaining balanced funds, timely payments, and responsible investments must remain a priority. The Treasurer’s Office must remain honest, transparent, and accountable. Public confidence is built over time and must be protected. Safeguards that prevent errors, fraud, and misuse of funds should never be compromised in the name of change. Maintaining cooperative working relationships with Commissioners Court, department heads, the auditor, and staff ensures smooth operations. Consistency matters. With 27 years in county government and 8 years as Treasurer, maintaining steady, knowledgeable leadership protects the county from unnecessary risk. Change should improve efficiency, not compromise stability. My priority is to protect what works while strengthening what can be better!
