Bandera County commissioners to consider burn ban, bridge funding

Special to the Bulletin

The Bandera County Commissioners Court will meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Bandera County Courthouse, 500 Main St., to consider a range of agenda items including subdivision replats, law enforcement equipment grants, a possible countywide burn ban and funding related to a new bridge project.

The agenda includes requests to replat portions of two subdivisions. Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request to replat Lots 213 and 214 of the Spring Creek Ranch Subdivision into a single lot in Precinct 2, as well as a request to replat remaining portions of Lot 10 in the Bellows Addition in Precinct 3. Both items include consideration of preliminary or final plats.

Sheriff Joshua D. Teitge is scheduled to request permission to apply for grants to purchase body armor for patrol deputies. The request includes authorization to apply for funding through the Governor’s Office and the Texas Public Safety Office, as well as approval to purchase body armor through the Peterson Foundation grant program.

Commissioners will also consider selecting a credit card processing service for the county tax office and entering into a contract with the chosen company.

Another item on the agenda calls for consideration of an order adopting a countywide burn ban.

The court is also scheduled to review and affirm the county’s investment policy and strategies as required under state law, as well as appoint a county investment officer and select members of the county investment committee.

In addition, commissioners will consider action related to a new bridge project at Paterson Avenue over the Medina River. The item includes possible approval of an amended resolution to increase the county’s funding participation following a federal off-system bridge project, as well as authorization for the county judge to sign the resolution.

The agenda also includes consideration of contracts for BEC fiber cable installation at the County Annex building, budget line-item transfers, and budget amendments.

A consent agenda includes routine items such as approval of officers’ and departments’ reports, payment of bills, scheduling of countywide receipts, approval of semi-monthly payroll, approval of minutes and deputations.

The meeting is open to the public and will include a public forum at the beginning of the agenda.
