The Republican Attorneys General Association will host a Republican primary debate for Texas attorney general candidates on Feb. 17 at the Granada Theater in Dallas, according to a news release from the organization.
The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central time and will feature four announced candidates: state Sen. Joan Huffman of Houston, state Sen. Mayes Middleton of Galveston, former Texas deputy attorney general Aaron Reitz and U.S. Rep. Chip Roy of Austin.
Organizers said the debate will be the only one ahead of the March 3, 2026, Republican primary to include all four candidates.
Each is expected to outline priorities and answer questions related to the role of the Texas attorney general.
The debate will be moderated by Allie Beth Stuckey, a Texas native and host of the “Relatable” podcast.
The event is being produced in partnership with Blaze Media, according to RAGA.
In a statement, RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper said the Texas attorney general’s office has played a significant role at both the state and national levels, citing its involvement in legal matters affecting Texans and broader constitutional issues.
Piper added organization aims to provide voters an opportunity to hear all candidates address issues facing the state.
Stuckey said in a statement that she was honored to moderate the debate and emphasized the importance of the race, noting the Texas attorney general’s involvement in national legal challenges.
RAGA said the debate will be open to the public and will also be available via live stream for those unable to attend in person.
