High school seniors and enrolled college students are encouraged to apply for Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) scholarships.
“Scholarships and awards are an excellent opportunity for students of Farm Bureau member- families to earn money to pursue their education,” Booker Young, President County Farm Bureau president said. “We encourage all eligible students to apply.”
There are four high school scholarship categories available from the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization: Memorial/Honorary and District Scholarships, Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship, Dick Mitchell Memorial Scholarship.
A total of 66 scholarships are awarded at the high school level.
Enrolled college students can apply for four scholarship categories at the state level: S.M. True Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award, Rural Veterinary Scholarship, Mia Balko Student Teaching Scholarship and Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarships for Enrolled College Students.
A total of 20 scholarships are awarded at the collegiate level.
HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
Memorial/Honorary and District scholarships are available to high school seniors who will graduate in May. Thirty-nine $3,000 scholarships and 13 $5,000 scholarships are awarded annually on the district level.
Thirteen $1,500 scholarships are awarded to high school students through the TFB Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship based on academic achievement and the applicant’s desire to pursue a career in an agricultural-related field.
The TFB Dick Mitchell Scholarship, valued at $1,000, is awarded to one high school senior who completed the Thrive Event through TFB’s Student Success Series in August 2025.
TFB makes scholarship funds available annually through Texas State Technical College (TSTC). Seventy $1,000 scholarships are awarded on a firstcome, first-served basis through the Texan Success Scholarship. COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIPS
The TFB Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship for Enrolled College Students offers three $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing an undergraduate degree in an agriculture major.
College students pursuing a degree in agricultural education can apply for the Mia Balko Student Teaching Scholarship.
Four senior agricultural education students will receive the Fall 2026 Mia Balko Student Teaching Scholarship.
The scholarships, valued at $6,000 each, aim to help students cover expenses during their semester of off-campus student teaching. A second application process will open later this year for those student teaching in spring 2027.
TFB’s S.M. True Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award offers $25,000 to one student who has at least 60 hours of college credit and declared agriculture as their major. Four finalists will also receive a $5,000 scholarship.
Through the Rural Veterinary Scholarship, four scholarships valued at $20,000 each will be awarded.
Four finalists will also be selected and receive a $2,500 scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be a secondor third-year veterinarian student at Texas A&M University or Texas Tech University with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
The applicant must also plan to enter a rural and/ or food animal practice in Texas after graduation.
“These scholarships and awards are another way county Farm Bureaus and Texas Farm Bureau invests in the future of our community, state and Texas agriculture,” Young said.
TFB scholarship applications are due online by 11:59 p.m. on March 2 and Bandera County Farm Bureau scholarships are due to the county office by March 31.
