Two owners of a Lakehills smoke shop were arrested Friday after Bandera County sheriff’s deputies executed a narcotics search warrant at the business, recovering multiple controlled substances, firearms and cash, Sheriff Josh Teitge said.
Teitge said the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit and Criminal Investigation Division executed the warrant at approximately 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at Smoke on the Water, located at 9484 FM 1283.
During the search, deputies recovered 6.16 ounces of prepackaged marijuana, 40 grams of liquid methamphetamine, 0.50 grams of cocaine, numerous THC vape products, two handguns and $770 in U.S. currency, Teitge said.
Timothy Saunders of Lakehills was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession with intent to deliver THC.
Kirsten Saunders was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of penalty group 2 THC, and possession with intent to deliver penalty group 2 THC.
Teitge said the sheriff’s office will continue targeting criminal narcotics activity to improve public safety in Bandera County.
When Smoke on the Water opened in May 2020, Saunders and his wife told The Bulletin they were taking a risk by launching the county’s first full head shop during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In that 2020 story, the couple said the business was intended to serve both local residents and visitors to Medina Lake, offering tobacco-related paraphernalia, CBD products and eclectic merchandise, while emphasizing customer service and long-term plans for their family.
