The Kerrville Renaissance Festival opens this weekend for the first of three weekends of Renaissance- themed entertainment, food and shopping.
The 10th annual festival runs Saturdays and Sundays from Jan. 17 through Feb. 1, at River Star Arts and Events Park in Kerrville.
Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.
The family-friendly event features eight stages of live entertainment, including music, comedy and interactive performances.
Scheduled acts include Judas and Magnolia, Wolgemut, Dublin Harpers, the Amanda Kitchens Duo and Tobias the Adequate.
Additional attractions include demonstrations by Vinland Texas Vikings and Last Chance Forever Birds of Prey, along with a pub crawl hosted by Port O’Thority.
Festivalgoers can also expect contests, mazes, strolling minstrels, carriage rides and appearances by costumed performers, dancers, musicians, magicians and jugglers. Guests are encouraged to attend in period costume.
The Renaissance Festival Marketplace will feature dozens of vendors offering handmade goods such as wooden toys, leather accessories, clothing, hats, glassware and jewelry.
Food options include funnel cake, cinnamon- roasted nuts, crepes, turkey legs, kettle corn, jerky, spaghetti cones and brisket mac and cheese, along with craft beer, wine, mead and other adult beverages.
The festival is held at River Star Arts and Events Park on the grounds of the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 Texas 27, Kerrville. Parking is free.
