Dispatches from the Lakehills Area Library

The Lakehills Area Library has a full slate of programs and events planned for January, offering opportunities for readers of all ages to learn, connect and create.

The library will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.

The library’s monthly book sale will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring a wide selection of books available for purchase.

The Christian Classics Book Club will meet Monday, Jan. 5, and Monday, Jan. 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The group will begin reading Devotional Classics by Richard J. Foster. All are welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, Jan. 14, the Hill Country Breastfeeding Coalition will host a meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Pregnant and breastfeeding families are invited to attend.

The Alamo Resource Conservation and Development Senior Lunch will take place Thursday, Jan. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event includes lunch, bingo and social time, and is open to all seniors.

The Lakehills Area Library Garden Club will host a seed-starting presentation Saturday, Jan. 17, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program will focus on techniques for starting seeds at home.

Another senior-focused event hosted by Alamo RCD, a Senior Lunch and Learn, is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided, along with a speaker on a topic of interest to seniors. The event is free and open to local seniors.

The month concludes with a macramé class taught by Yvette Gomez on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The beginner- level class costs $30 per person and includes all materials. Space is limited, and advance registration is required at the library’s front desk.

Weekly programs continue throughout the month, including Preschool Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 1 p.m., featuring songs, stories and crafts designed to support early learning. Yarn Club meets Fridays from 12:30 to 2 p.m., offering a weekly handcrafting gathering for participants to work on projects and share skills.
