The third annual Cabernet and Candy Canes, a customer appreciation event sponsored by Hevenor’s Feed and Supply, drew a crowd of over 100 people on Friday evening to enjoy charcuterie, and light spirits.

The Dec. 5 event also offered discounted Christmas shopping for all participants and special sales on some merchandise.

Store manager Michele Rothlisberger buzzed around the store helping customers and overseeing the party.

Rothlisberger has 25 years’ experience running Purina stores in the area. She formerly managed the Purina store in Kerrville, where the idea of a customer appreciation event germinated.

“Bandera doesn’t have anything like this except Shoppers’ Jubilee, and I thought everyone would enjoy this,” remarked Rothlisberger.

Under Rothlisberger’s guidance, the party has grown each year.

The crowd certainly took advantage of the discounts offered during the event. The ladies behind the counter were constantly busy checking customers out and answering questions.

Amber, Shye, Jo and Madi answered questions and operated the registers. All were dressed in festive holiday attire, and even the two gentlemen who worked in the warehouse wore holiday t-shirts.

The party goers had a variety of “ugly Christmas sweaters” on in preparation for the contest to find the most objectionable top present.

Store owner Russell Hevenor signed up customers for the new activity. He and wife Ann mingled with the guests and chatted with friends throughout the party.

Several Bandera notables attended the event. Linda James paired with Judy Miller and walked around the store enjoying the ambiance.

Connie Young, retired High School art teacher and Farm Bureau supporter, strolled the aisles.

Jettie Whitlock and Carey Reed enjoyed the large charcuterie offering while chatting with neighbors.

Party goers gathered in groups inside and outside the store enjoying the holiday cheer.

Hevenor’s Feed and Supply is open Monday through Saturday from 8AM until 5:30 PM, 4:00 PM on Saturday.

They are located at 354 State Highway 16 South in Bandera. The phone number is 830-796-3342.
