Comissioners to discuss fireworks, new sign, budget development items

Bandera County commissioners are scheduled to meet Thursday to consider limits on fireworks, a request for a new digital library sign and several budget and development items, according to the court’s posted agenda.

The court will convene at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Bandera County Courthouse, 500 Main St., where members will consider an order regulating the use of certain fireworks in unincorporated areas during the December fireworks season, with attention to drought conditions and public-safety concerns.

Library officials are asking permission to install a digital sign, a request expected to draw comment during the meeting. County Judge Richard A. Evans also plans to request a merit pay increase for Judy Lefevers, the county’s 911/ emergency management coordinator, and the court will consider accepting a $1,915 donation from the Law Office of Henry Gates Steen Jr. to fund a county employee holiday party.

On the development front, the court will review two replat requests: a final plat for Mesa Verde Ranch to establish private access easements and a preliminary plat for Oak Ridge that would replat portions of several lots into a single parcel. Commissioners also are expected to consider renewal of flood insurance through American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida for multiple county locations, effective in January/February 2026. Financial items on the agenda include presentation of the Bandera County Convention and Visitors Bureau fourth-quarter financial report for fiscal year 2024–25, as well as routine budget line-item transfers and amendments. A consent agenda will include approval of minutes, deputations and payment of bills, and the court will hear department reports and review the county- wide receipts schedule and semi-monthly payroll.
