The Texas Beef Council announced its 20-member Board of Directors for fiscal year 2026, which began Oct. 1.
Directors were nominated by producer organizations and industry segments across the state.
The board held its first meeting Nov. 20 to discuss strategies for building beef demand through research, education and promotional programs.
The 2026 executive committee includes Brandalyn Richards of Hereford, who will serve as chairman and represents the Texas Cattle Feeders Association; Shannon Treichel of Canyon, vice chairman, serving in an at-large seat; Pat Shields of Bryan, immediate past chairman, also at-large; Kara Dudley of Horseshoe Bay, representing the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association; and Brian Malaer of Harwood, representing the Independent Cattlemen’s Association.
Directors include Leslie Callahan of Dripping Springs, Livestock Markets; John Connaway of Brookesmith, Texas Farm Bureau; Brandon Cutrer of Wharton, Purebred; Klazina de Boer of Dublin, Dairy; Dane Elliott of Pawnee, Texas Farm Bureau; George Harrison of Bay City, Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association; Amy Kirkland of Vega, Texas Cattle Feeders Association; Sarah McKenzie of Fort Stockton, Texas Farm Bureau; John Van de Pol of Amherst, Dairy; and Kerry Wiggins of Austin, Independent Cattlemen’s Association.
First-term directors are David Baumann of Canyon, Texas Cattle Feeders Association; Jan Elliott of Uvalde, Texas CattleWomen; Lauren Lyssy of Stockdale, Purebred; Karrie Menz of The Colony, Beef Packers/Exporters; and James Uhl of Fort McKavett, Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
The Texas Beef Council is funded by Texas beef producers through the state and national Beef Checkoff programs.
Checkoff dollars support research, education and promotion aimed at increasing beef demand in the United States and abroad.
