Gov. Greg Abbott visited a Texas State University tailgate hosted by the Hays County Young Republicans on Saturday, meeting with students, alumni and supporters ahead of the school’s football game. Abbott spoke with attendees about youth involvement in state politics and emphasized the role young Texans will play in upcoming elections. He praised the Young Republicans for engaging students and said the organization is helping develop the next generation of conservative leaders. The tailgate drew supporters from across Central Texas and provided an opportunity for Abbott to connect with college-aged voters as political groups begin organizing for the 2026 election cycle.
