Bandera High School’s basketball teams opened their preseason with a pair of scrimmages Tuesday, Nov. 10, against the San Antonio Cardinals, with the JV and varsity squads splitting results.
The JV Bulldogs fell 51– 23 in the opening matchup.
Despite the loss, coaches noted the team’s strong effort coming just days after wrapping up football season.
Freshman Jaxon Bowers led Bandera with 16 points.
Bandera’s varsity team followed with a dominant performance, building a 25–11 lead in the first 20-minute period before extending the margin with a 30–12 second period to secure a 55–23 win.
Anden Tenis-De-Grote and John Pierce paced the Bulldogs with 12 points each.
Copper Franklin added seven points, while James Bower and Gavin Garcia scored six apiece.
Coach Bruce said the outing showed plenty of positive signs as the team works to build chemistry with new additions to the roster.
“We’re looking forward to their future accomplishments,” he said.
