Polly’s Schoolhouse welcomed visitors Saturday, Oct. 25, for the annual Open House hosted by the Polly Texas Pioneer Association. The event drew community members, local leaders and history enthusiasts to celebrate the heritage of the historic settlement.
Attendees toured the restored one-room schoolhouse and enjoyed refreshments under clear skies.
Ms. Flo Hopkins, an alumna who attended Polly’s Schoolhouse in 1942, shared memories of her time as a student and reflected on the building’s enduring role in the community.
Bandera County Precinct 1 Commissioner Troy Konvicka spoke about the importance of historic preservation and community support in maintaining local landmarks.
Bandera County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jordan “Jody” Rutherford, representatives from the Bandera Historical Commission, and members of the Pipe Creek Community Association also attended.
Organizers said Polly’s Schoolhouse will soon be available for community rentals, providing a new way for residents to engage with the historic site.
The Polly Texas Pioneer Association leads ongoing efforts to preserve and promote the heritage of the Polly settlement.
