Nagel Clinic names new executive director

The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Mrs. Sandra Imery as the organization’s new executive director, effective Jan. 2, 2026.

She will succeed Chuck Lutke, who will retire at the end of this year after eight years as the Clinic’s longest-serving executive director.

Imery brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management and public health.

Her career includes key roles with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, Family Service Association, and the City of Houston’s Complete Communities Financial Empowerment Centers.

She has built a reputation for advancing equitable access to care, strengthening community partnerships, and driving sustainable growth for mission-based organizations, according to a release from the clinic.

Currently serving as senior health equity analyst and former vaccine equity officer for San Antonio Metro Health, Mrs. Imery leads citywide initiatives addressing health disparities.

She holds degrees from Texas A&M University– Kingsville and is completing her Doctor of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Although her official tenure begins in January, Mrs. Imery will join the Clinic’s administrative staff on Nov. 13 to learn about its operations and connect with the community.

She will also attend the annual Cork & Fork fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Farm Country Club, where she looks forward to meeting supporters and friends of the Clinic.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen to lead the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic,” Mrs. Imery said. “This organization represents the very best of community health care— compassionate, efficient, and focused on improving lives. I look forward to working closely with the Board, staff, volunteers, and supporters to build on its outstanding legacy. Most of all, I’m eager to meet and serve the hundreds of patients whose trust inspires everything we do.”

Mike Mulherin, president of the Clinic’s Board of Directors, said the Board and staff are enthusiastic about Mrs. Imery’s appointment.

“We are very pleased to welcome Sandra Imery to the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic,” Mulherin said. “Her leadership and passion for health equity make her an ideal choice to guide the Clinic into an exciting new chapter of growth and expanded service. The Board is also deeply grateful to Chuck Lutke for his outstanding leadership over the past eight years and wishes him every happiness in his well-earned retirement.”

Since its founding in 2008, the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic has provided more than 50,000 distinct health services to 6,500 Bandera County residents, investing over $20 million in medical care and education for low-income and uninsured families.
